Appleton, WI - The Piggy Wiggly located at 520 E. Northland Avenue in Appleton is closing it doors on or around August 18th.

Franchise owner Dan Schneider said the competition was too much for the small store and he couldn't make the sales to keep the store going. Schneider believes the grocery stores in Appleton are over-stored.

Many area residents are not surprised to see the store closing as they suspected one store to close with the Meijer's (a new store that opened at the end of April) store opening.

Piggy Wiggly will still operate stores in Kaukauna, Little Chute, Menasha, and New London.
