Grand Chute recieves grant for commerical center

Grand Chute, Wisconsin - The town of Grand Chute is receiving a grant of $500,000 from the state for a new commercial center off of I-41. The building was formally a 300,000 square foot building used to be the sited of a National Envelope Plant, but it closed in 2014. The building was vacant for several years until it got torn down late last year/early this year.

Construction started on the new building in February. The new site will be where WG&R Furniture will move to in 2019.

This morning, July 3rd, Governor Scott Walker toured the site in Grand Chute and the city will be given $500,000 to help cover the cost of demolition. WG&R won't cover the entire area of the new building as the city hopes in 2019 more retailers will start to move in. WG&R will remain open until the construction is done at the new site.

"Now more than ever, we need to keep our high school graduates and college graduates here and we need to find more ways to attract more millennial", Walker said.
