Shiocton, Wisconsin- Two candidates are in the running to become Shiocton's 7-12 grade principal.
On Monday, Rhonda Opelt and Nicholas Ortlieb gave speeches regarding why they would make a good principal at the Shiocton School District and what their goals are.
Rhonda Opelt spoke about her main goals if she became principal, which would be establishing relationships with students, teachers, community members, and peers, making safety a priority in the school, and understaning instructional initiatives.
Nick Ortlieb spoke about his passion on teaching students in Shiocton and stated that the Shiocton School District is where he wants to be. Mr. Ortlieb has been teaching in the area for six years and has acted as a designee for Principal Kelly Zeinert when she was out of the building for the last two years.
Rhonda (Opelt) Elmhort-Friemoth has been principal at the Granton Area School District (near Wausau) for about four years serving grades 4K-12. This experience, she says, gives her knowledge on the Wisconsin cirriculum and teaching skills.
The district will take a reccomendation to the Board of Education on Monday, July 16, according to Superintendant Nichole Schweitzer.
